An excerpt from a novel currently complete and undergoing final edit ...
If this was the equivalent of the condemned man’s last supper he couldn’t have scripted a nicer exit.
It made no sense, his life was upside down, inside out and twisted beyond reason. When he’d tried his best, worked hard, worried, fretted, slaved and saved till it hurt like a bitch he got nothing. When he’d tossed in the towel, extracted a gun, let go and pulled the trigger the universe decided that was the time to open the tap of abundance and throw everything at him at once.
Crazy!
His life was suddenly so sickly sweet that Mitchell wasn’t buying any of it, or believing for a moment that what he was experiencing was anything more than a tantalizingly fleeting glimpse of an alternative reality created to provide a vivid memory on which to draw back in his dreary apartment.
